  • Where Can I Look Up Your Notary Status?  Click Here

  • What is the purpose of a notary? Notaries ensure the authenticity of legal documents and documents and verify the identities of the parties involved in a transaction. A few of a notary's functions and authorized acts include witnessing signatures on documents, administering oaths, and certifying copies of official documents. A notary is essentially a officer for the State of Texas.

  • What happens during a notary appointment?  We will meet and I will  go over documents for signing.  I will ask a few questions to make sure you understand what you are signing and are competent to sign.  I will need your identification. I will review and record this. I will notarize your documents. You will sign your documents, and my record book.  Then payment is made.  (this is a typical notary)

  • What types of identification are acceptable?  Generally a state or country issued identification is acceptable as long as it is not expired.  Examples: driver's license, license to carry, passport or military id.  If you don't have an id please contact me - there are some acceptable work arounds.

  • What if the signer cannot physically sign?  A mark such as an X is acceptable.  There is a procedure for this but I have done it many times.  The most important part is that I witness the signer make the mark.

  • Why are hospital visits more?  Hospital visits are more time consuming for me in general.  The competency and signing parts particularly take more time.  I must asses the signer understands what they are signing.  Then because of physical limitations the signer often needs assistance.  If anyone in the room is a party benefitting from the documents then they need to keep silent or leave the room.  Also they cannot help with the signing.  A nurse or I  will do that.

  • Why are jail visits more?  Jail visits have an additional fee as we are often waiting on staff to get signer/inmate situated.  If I feel unsafe or the staff feels there is a safety issue then the appointment will be canceled.

  • Will I still pay fees if a notary appointment is cancelled?  Yes.  If I am already at the location or on my way you will be charged in full or partially.  If we are able to complete notary at later time then I will discount that visit.

  • What if a bank or other institution will not accept my notarized document?  Please give them my contact information and ask them to contact me.  I will handle it for you to the best of my ability.  Make sure when you leave our appointment you have my business card.

  • What if legal issues concerning the documents come up? I will be subpoenaed or an attorney will contact me.
